Welcome to the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) in Toronto, Canada. My name is Sheila Ward and I am the Trustee for Toronto Centre Rosedale, or Ward 14.

We are the fifth largest school board in North America, with only New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dade County larger than the TDSB. There is both tremendous challenge and opportunity in that and it is my belief that as a board we have worked to successfully maintain the personal touch with each child in each school while taking advantage of the benefits of size.

The strategic directions of the TDSB include making every school an effective school; building leadership within a culture of adaptability, openness and resilience; forming strong and effective relationships and partnerships; build environmentally sustainable schools that inspire teaching and learning; and, identifying disadvantage and intervene effectively.

The TDSB provides a wealth of opportunity for each student and is there just for the taking. It is my hope that parents and students in Toronto Centre schools will make use of the abundant opportunities presented to secure their future success and happiness in a world they help create and nurture.
