Whitney Junior P.S. offers regular Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6 programs and has an enrolment of 285 students.  Located in the Rosedale/Moore Park area, the original school was erected in 1926 and was replaced by the current building in 1964.  A noteworthy architectural feature of the present school is the precast concrete louvers covering the exterior of the classroom windows.  These louvers are intended to cut out direct sunlight and glare in the classrooms and eliminate solar heat. It is believed that this special element was used for the first time in Ontario in the design of Whitney.
